In Greek mythology, Meliboea referred to 3 different people.

  1. The wife of Magnes, who named the town of Meliboea in Thessaly after her.The town of Meliboea became kingdom in eastern Thessalia(North Magnesia).Nowadays Meliboea (Melivia) is a munipacility of Larissa prefecture. The exacly place of Ancient Melivia (Meliboea) is not known.
  • Famous kings of Meliboea was:
    1. King Poeas (Argonaut), friend of Hercules.
    2. Son of Poeas, king Philoctetes,famous archer, participant in the Trojan War

  1. One was the only Niobid spared when Artemis and Apollo killed them. She was so upset that she changed her name to Chloris ("the pale one").
  2. The other was a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys and mother of Lycaon with Pelasgus.
