- FIFA's World Cup will have its 24th edition, 100 years after the first one. Uruguay is often mentioned as a possible host for this edition, because it hosted the inaugural edition in 1930 and there is even a project called Uruguay 2030 but, so far, no countries have yet officially offered to host the tournament.
- The Games of the XXVI Winter Olympics will be held
- The European Space Agency hopes to land humans on Mars between 2030 and 2035.
- November 5: United States Congressional elections
- The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has set a goal of constructing a manned lunar base in 2030. Astronauts would be sent to the Moon by around 2020 so that they will start construction of the base to be completed by 2030.

- The Time Machine (2002): Time traveller Alexander Hartdegen stops in this year 2030 where he talks to a holographic, artificial-intelligence librarian called Vox. Also in this year mining is occurring on the Moon for the development of lunar homes.
- The Kid (2000): At the end of the movie where the main character finds his 70 year old self, but differing to other movies there were no changes in anything that was seen (planes, dinners and clothing).
